When you get out of bed in the middle of the night, open a closet or kitchen cupboard, walk down the stairs, enter the storage room, your movement will turn the light on automatically without having to use a switch. 

The sensor can be placed wherever you want, for example at the bottom of your bed so it won't turn on if you turn around in your bed but only turn on when you get out of bed! The light is bright enough to clearly see but not too bright to wake you up and disturb your sleep.
