Designed, built and tested by Wilbur and Orville Wright, the Wright Flyer first flew on December 17, 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The Wright Flyer was the first powered, heavier than air machine to reach controlled, sustained flight with a pilot on board. This was the last flight of The Wright Flyer as it was damaged by a heavy gust before any further repair and flights took place.
